Following one of the most typical Christmas traditions in our country, in Sirvent we make marzipan figures; a typical confectionery made of almonds and sugar.
There are many legends about marzipan, which is thought to originate from Arabic culture when they were in the Iberian Peninsula. Therefore, the etymology of the word in Catalan – massapà – refers to bread (pa) and thus gives us a clue about its traditional recipe, an appearance that Sirvent maintains when making these small tasty hand-crafted cakes.
